Montblanc

Et enfin, la dernière étape de notre périple : Montblanc, charmant village médiéval conservant des murailles assez impressionnantes. Les photos que j'ai sélectionnées ne sont d'ailleurs pas forcément les plus représentatives de ce caractère médiéval mais Montblanc est également l'endroit le plus touristique que nous ayons visité et j'ai eu envie d'essayer de sortir un peu de ces clichés touristiques...

Asaf Avidan (Cruïlla)

Third time I'm seeing Asaf Avidan live, after seeing him with band at Solidays a couple of years ago and after being totally blown away by his solo concert in Barcelona last year. Third time and yet, it is as difficult as ever to find the words to describe! Sensitive and primal, dreamy and desperate, Asaf Avidan's music is a subtle balance between catchy melodies and tortured vocals, entertaining story-telling and heart-breaking poems. I had never heard the songs from the last record live and I was particularly happy and moved to re-discover them, some being a real wonder in their live version. The rest of the concert was just pure Asaf Avidan, alternating between crushingly depressive songs and jokes with the audience -as if to allow us to catch our breath for a brief moment before continuing the journey... Around Milos

J'ai déjà fait le résumé de notre séjour sur Milos , première étape de notre périple dans les îles l'été dernier. Voici maintenant le résumé en photos de notre journée autour de Milos ! C'est la première excursion payante qu'on a décidé de faire pendant ce séjour. Comme je le disais précédemment, ce ne sont pas les offres qui manquent et elles se valent à peu près toutes. Il y a plein de bateaux qui proposent des tours de l'île au départ d'Adamas. On s'est finalement décidé pour un petit voilier un peu au feeling, en se disant que ça serait sûrement plus sympa que les gros bateaux à moteur qui embarquent plein de touristes. Au final, on était peut-être une dizaine sur le bateau. A part nous et un couple plus âgé, tous les autres étaient des Grecs venus passer leurs vacances dans les îles, ce que j'ai trouvé plutôt sympa sur le coup. L'ambiance internationale, je l'ai déjà à Barcelone alors quand je pars en vacances, j'aime autant

Up & Down Santorini

Après la magnifique et relativement sauvage île de Milos , deuxième arrêt dans l'incontournable Santorini. Après le léger moment de flottement qu'on avait eu avec la question de l'hébergement à Milos, on s'est finalement résolu à moins improviser sur Santorini. Bon, "moins improviser", c'est relatif : c'est juste qu'on a réservé un hôtel quelques heures avant de prendre le ferry, grâce à Alexandra, notre hôtesse de Milos ! Cette fois, on est tombé sur un couple assez âgé absolument adorable. Le ferry ayant eu deux heures de retard, on a réveillé le pauvre petit monsieur en plein milieu de la nuit ! Mais de nouveau, on a complètement halluciné sur la gentillesse et la confiance dont les gens faisaient preuve. On ne savait pas exactement combien de temps on voulait rester. Comme à Milos, la réponse a été : "Bah, c'est pas grave, vous nous direz quand vous saurez !" Euh, bah, OK, super ! Bref, la découverte de Santorini se présentait bi

Brody Dalle (Rock en Seine)

Ok, so this last day at Rock of Seine was a serious kick-ass day! Starting with Blood Red Shoes , continuing with Warpaint and on to... Brody Dalle. THE name that put a huge smile on my face when I saw it on the lineup. I had been waiting for her return for a long time. It was worth the wait! Brody Dalle was absolutely brilliant, playing both songs from her solo record and songs from The Distillers, and the concert went on in a heartbeat, leaving me in some sort of daze. Hope I won't have to wait that long to see her again! In the meantime, here is my video of " Don't mess with me " and, of course, a selection of photos.

Tori Amos (Primavera Sound)

A radically different style but I have to admit that Tori Amos was the second name on the line-up that made me pat myself of the back for buying my Primavera Sound pass at Christmas without knowing the line-up. Her appearances in Europe are not that numerous and as far as I know, this concert was her only scheduled date in Spain. Since I had never seen her live, I couldn't miss that opportunity... One of the other things that struck me when I discovered the line-up of this year's Primavera Sound was the unusually high number of female artists. And I don't mean "the girl who plays bass with" or "the girl on the keyboards" (even though I very much enjoyed the gigs of The Ghost Of A Saber Tooth Tiger , The Thurston Moore Band and The KVB !). No, I mean strong, powerful female song-writers, musicians and performers, each with very different and uncompromising styles, be them solo artists or in bands. FFS (Cruïlla)

One of the most unlikely and yet successful collaborations of this year: FFS, Franz Ferdinand and Sparks. I'm not going to lie: this is one of the bands I was really excited to see at Cruïlla this year. My expectations were not disappointed. I have already written about Franz Ferdinand and how thrilled I have been to see them grow so positively. This joint show at Cruïlla was no exception. The collaboration does perfectly work and it is a real pleasure to see the musicians obviously having fun on stage and sharing their energy and good mood with an audience. They were programmed at Rock en Seine too this year and after Cruïlla, I was already convinced I would want to repeat!

Jamie Cullum (Cruïlla)

The first really good surprise of this year's Cruïlla was definitely Jamie Cullum. Like I wrote before , I had never really taken time to pay attention to this artist. My mistake, really. Jamie Cullum is not only an excellent musician but also a very impressive showman. A most enjoyable gig!

The KVB (Primavera Sound)

Another one of the nice discoveries this edition of Primavera Sound had in store for me. They were described as some sort of missing link between The Cure, Joy Division and New Order. Obviously, that description sounded very promising to me. But to be honest, it would be a rather quick summary, since the British duo doesn't seem to stick to one particular sound rooted in some sort of 80s nostalgia. On the contrary, they sound much more eclectic than they are described and I really felt like taking a journey along with these catchy, dark, sonic waves that they are experts at delivering.

Bilbao by night

La semana pasada, estuve en Bilbao por trabajo y conseguí quedarme el finde con dos compis del trabajo. Una de ellas es de allí... entonces no solo tuve la suerte de descubrir una ciudad que me gustó muchísimo, sino que también tuve la suerte de ser guiada por una experta en una ruta gastronómica memorable! También tuvimos la suerte de poder ir brevemente al museo Guggenheim, donde hay ahora una exposición de Niki de Saint Phalle. Allí os dejo las primeras fotos de la estancia.
